Too Late to Enter: A Sobering Truth

Too Late to Enter: A Sobering Truth
No Second Chances

Imagine standing before the Lord on Judgment Day and hearing the most dreadful words ever spoken: “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity” (Matthew 7:23).

The parable of the ten virgins makes this truth clear. “They that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut” (Matthew 25:10). The five foolish virgins eventually arrived, but it was too late.

We understand missing a bus, missing a train, or even missing an appointment—but why do we assume it is impossible to miss the call of God for salvation?

1. The Reality of Too Late
Scripture warns us that the door will not always remain open.

“Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near” (Isaiah 55:6).

The foolish virgins believed they could prepare at the last moment, but they found themselves locked out. Once the door was shut, no amount of pleading could open it again.

2. False Security Will Not Save
Many assume they have time. They plan to repent tomorrow, or after “enjoying life,” forgetting that tomorrow is not promised.

“Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth” (Proverbs 27:1).

The five foolish virgins had lamps, but no oil. Outward religion without inward reality will not stand in the day of judgment.

3. Now Is the Time
The Scripture presses urgency upon us:

“Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation” (2 Corinthians 6:2).

God’s call is gracious, but it is not indefinite. When the Bridegroom comes, there will be no second chance.

Conclusion
You can miss a bus, and catch the next one. You can miss a meeting, and reschedule. But if you miss Christ’s call, there is no second opportunity. The door will be shut, and eternity will be sealed.

“Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able” (Luke 13:24).

Friend, don’t wait.
The call is now.
The door is open now.
Tomorrow may be too late.
